Embossed Watercolor Background--DS4J Challenge #110

Hi friends :)

Today starts a new, fun challenge at DigiStamps4Joy!  The theme is wet or dry embossing, using the color red.  Now, I just so happen to love the color red and was excited to use so much of it in a project. I actually had crafter's block for a while and the few cards I tried to make didn't turn out at all, then hours after just being at a complete loss, it hit me! I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to do.

And I'm in love....

Oh my goodness. Isn't it gorgeous?! I love how the colors work so well together how clean it is. One of my favorites by far!

I made the background using a background stamp, embossing powder, water and Distress Inks. I also added some Perfect Pearls to add a bit of sparkle. This technique is quite fun and the results can be so beautiful! The sentiment is in DS4J's Sunshine Set.  I really love this sentiment because it's one you could use with all sorts of cards.  I added a yellow ribbon and some Liquid Pearls to add a little more interest to the white space to finish it off :)

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you liked my take on the challenge. Please visit DS4J's blog to see what else my talented teammates whipped up!

  2. This is a gorgeous card, but because the background is so eyecatching and almost the main feature of the card, it would be difficult to call it 'white space'!
    It's a lovely card nevertheless!
Thanks so much and I can see why making it made you happy!

    1. I wondered if it would be too much, Chrissie, and I hesitated to submit, but decided that if you guys thought it didn't work, it didn't work. At least I tried :) Thanks for the kind words!

  3. Your card is absolutely stunning and I love the background, however I have to agree with Chrissie in terms of the 'White space' . We also have a maximum of 5 challenge link ups including ours and I think you may have exceeded this. I really love your technique however and thrilled to have seen the card even if we can't accept it this time. Hope you'll play again.

    1. Yes, I submitted it to more challenges today after Chrissie said it didn't have enough white space. I knew it would no longer be in your challenge, so I could submit to more than 5. Thanks for the kind words!
